Dine, Dance, and Stay the Night!
The Pender Harbour Hotel has an amazing history. It was once the Riggers Roost, popular for loggers in the area.

It had been running as a The Pender Harbour Hotel and Grasshopper Pub for many years until it was completely destroyed by a fire in 2013. I was living on the Sunshine Coast at the time, and remember grieving slightly for the lost pub and its insanely delicious Indian food.

After a couple of years of hard work, the owners reopened with a brand new building, and a clear goal to set this place apart from the others on the coast. Jessie Adcock is a family member of the owners, and she also happened to be the Chief Officer of my Digital Services department at City Hall in Vancouver. She’d seen some of my work, and asked me to help out with an online rebranding.

My main challenge was to make a site that would balance the offerings of the business, but provide a way to promote the key components during certain times of the year. The result is a site that shows all that The Pender Harbour Hotel has to offer. We also made sure that the site would work really well on mobile devices, so that all those weary sailors and travelling landlubbers could navigate their way to the sweet refuge of the pub.

And by the way, the butter chicken is still insanely good. Thank god the recipe didn’t go up in flames.
